it sounds like an interesting topic, but without access to a research library or something, it can wind up being a bit daunting and uninformative. Wait till college to research it, the resources are so vast that you'll be able to find real primary source material to learn from.

Oh, yeah, I understand why the topic may not be the best of ideas. I'll still want to do it and I'm going to try to convince them, but eh, that's not as important. Plus, I can always go to any of the six collages in the area that are pretty progressive for information.
I'm more concerned, though, about the way they reacted to the subject, being that's it's going to come up again. I was hoping they wouldn't have a strong reaction against it for that reason.

The only thing worse than ignorance is self inflicted ignorance.
And yeah, it's one of those things that's hard to truly be able to understand completely if you've never actually experienced what it's like to be into something like that. Though, they still should have some empathy and actually understand what they're bashing before they bash it.
Huh. I've actually never heard much about BDSM. The only thing I know is that it stands for Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and masonochism. I really don't see why people are so controversial over this. Let people do what they want for crying out loud!

She's disgusted by it and yet she's never actually taken the time to figure out what exactly it is. If she had a good conversation with someone who's actually involved in bdsm and actually knows what they're talking about, ie not a 15 year old boy, I think she'd have a bit of a different opinion coming out of it.

Anyways, I'm kind of into that shit to, just a tidbit of information.
What I do know is that they don't approve of bdsm in and of itself.
I also don't think that they'd react extremely harshly if I told them. What I'm more concerned about is the fact that in future, they may be disgusted with the lifestyle that I take on and I don't want that to be the case.
That is rather unfortunate.
I hate it when parents have to sign off on projects.
I mean, really, just because there's always going to be one chucklehead that'll go "HURDURRR, IMMA DO A PAPER ON POT/SEX/BOOZ, HAHA, I FUNNAY" shouldn't mean that it spoils it for the rest of us.

I'm going to (hopefully, if I can persuade them) focus the project mostly on the stigma around bdsm and how that stigma has changed over the years.
bdsm is the topic I want to do the most, but if I can't do that, I'll probably do criminal psychology or psychology of religion.
Question is: Why do they need to know?
I'm sure as hell not going to tell them.
But I just have this strong feeling that they're going to find out eventually some way or another. Maybe it won't be now, maybe it won't be until I'm out of highschool, and hell, maybe it won't be until I'm 30, but I just know it's going to happen somehow.
